Town Projects
In July of 2002, the Indiana Department of Environment
Management (IDEM) issued a non-compliance letter regarding our sewage treatment
plant. It stated that our lagoon type system does not meet the current
IDEM standards and the Town is required to upgrade the system. The Town
selected the engineering firm of Traid Associates to design the most cost
effective and efficient system that will comply with IDEM standards. It
was determined that the old lagoon system be replaced with a mechanical
treatment plant. The total project cost is approximately 2.4 million.
We received a grant for $500,000 to go toward the project. Reynolds Inc.
was awarded the construction bid and construction began in April. The
project is due for completion at the end of the year.
